Barca! Barca!

INESTAg0506

I know that I haven’t updated my blog in a while, and there are many things that I haven’t posted here which I should have posted earlier. But I have got to let my feelings known about last night’s magnificent game!

The last minute goal from Iniesta sent me and the rest of football neutrals ecstatic! Barcelona are my favourite team in Spain, and 2nd favourite next to Liverpool. I thought it was a bit injustice for them to get held up by a team who didn’t want to play football, but they got the reward after Iniesta netted the equalizer in the 93rd minute baby!

I have also got to say that the Chelsea players’ reaction were a disgrace! They were telling Barca players to shut-up after the first leg game, and now they just tasted their own medicine. I laughed at Drogba’s outburst. He deserved it after all the dives and whines during the match.

Now, march forward Barcelona! Go on and with your 3rd Champions’ League trophy on May 27th!

Proud to be a Red

kuyt_get500hh00 I am proud to be a Liverpool fan, and last night’s game proved to the rest of the World just how much we love this club. The team fought endlessly till the final whistle. But despite scoring four goals at the Bridge, Liverpool still got knocked out of the Champions League with Chelsea winning 7 – 5 on aggregate.

It was a very entertaining game for the neutrals and for the Reds and Blues alike. Both teams ditched out their defending philosophy and went all out attack to get as many goals as possible. And they didn’t disappoint.

The game ended in a 4 – 4 draw, but it could have been a different game if Reina didn’t make the mistake which let Chelsea get back into the game. Liverpool were the better team, though. We could have scored 4 in the first half if the players took their chances. Especially Torres. But it was not to be this year.

To be honest, I’d rather have Chelsea in the final than Manchester United any day. So, march on, Blues! March on and win your first ever European Cup!

Hillsborough Remembered

Kenny_Dalglish_965839527 Today is also the 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster, and we (the Reds’ fans) still remember it like if it happened only yesterday. It may have been a tragic event, but it was an event which helped shape the modern football stadiums. 96 brothers will never be forgotten. YWNA!

A pretty wet day at Sepang

DSCN1018 It has been known that Malaysia is a hot country to visit, but it can also be a very wet and cold place if you visit it at this time of year. It was expected that rain will come at Sepang, but no one, I say again, NO ONE expected it to be a pretty bad thunderstorm.

The race will always be remembered for its excitement at a very different level. Not just the rain, but also the drivers/teams that dominated the race.

A week ago, Brawn GP proved to the world that they didn’t bluff when they set the fastest time during the practice sessions. They won (1st and 2nd) the Melbourne Grand Prix with a pretty comfortable margin.

Back to Sepang. I arrived at the location about three hours prior to the race. It was a pretty daunting task to wait that long, but luckily there were a few stalls to check out to kill off some time (well, it was MORE than just ‘some’ really).

A little bit disappointed with the lack of models/race-girls, but that didn’t stop me from getting pumped up for the race!

DSCN1028 We got through gate 1 at 2pm, and went straight to our seats at Turquoise to check out the view since it was the first time we got the Turquoise’s. And boy was it far away from the starting grid, but at least we could see most of the action on the long-straight.

The race started at 1700 as scheduled, but I was surprised with the lack of spectators at K1 Platinum and Gold grand stands. I guess our economy meltdown got something to do with it.

As the race went on, it got pretty dull at the front ‘cause there wasn’t enough action at the front between Rosberg, Trulli, and Button. We were mostly concentrating on the race between Ferrari, BMW, and McLaren in the middle-pack. It wasn’t often I said that back in 2008, but I guess we’ll get used to it as the season goes on.

I’m not going to tell you what happened to the race ‘cause I assume that you all already know, but it was pretty washed up from what I can tell at the circuit. I guess we got carried away when we were hoping for it to rain, but thunderstorm was the one that came down.

Photo089 The drivers stopped right between the Turquoise and Jade grand stands after the red flag, and most of the spectators went to the front to take photos of their beloved drivers up-close, but not THAT close though.

Overall, it was a pretty decent race. It would have been better if the race restarted right after the rain cooled down. It was a pretty odd way to finish the race because they didn’t even have to cross the finish-line!

Congratulations to Jenson Button for winning the race, and Nick Heidfeld for making Malaysia proud by finishing second (hey, BMW is still somewhat connected to Malaysia what?).

F1 fever is back in KL!

I’ve always enjoyed an event like this ‘cause it always get me pumped up for the actual race this weekend! I’ll be supporting BMW and Ferrari at the circuit as usual, but an underdog triumph wouldn’t hurt anyone I suppose.
