A Decent Weekend for Sports Fans

They Drew Blank

Last week was a pretty odd weekend for me and the rest of the BPL fans. It was a week which filled with unexpected results from the big four. None of them picked up maximum points, and to add more to the weirdness, none of them even scored a goal!

Liverpool, Chelsea, and Man Utd drew 0 - 0 to Fulham, Newcastle, and Aston Villa respectively. Arsenal came out the worst. Not only they failed to score, but they also lost to Man City by three goals to nil. In my opinion, Wenger needs to find a new skipper for the gunners. Gallas has never been a good leader in my eyes.

I got a mixed feelings for Liverpool's stalemate with Fulham. It may have been a missed opportunity to go clear top of the league, but at the same time it was a good result because we didn't lose any ground since the other big three failed to get maximum points.

Overall, it was a decent week for BPL fans because none of the big four failed to pick up maximum points, therefore it was a fair weekend for all.

A1GP Outing

Yesterday was the second time (fifth time in total) I went to Sepang Circuit to witness A1GP: World Cup of Motorsport. I didn't plan to go there at first, but since my cousin wanted to go, I decided to go along.

To be honest, I was looking forward to the race because the Malaysian team entered the race with a two point lead in the championship. Fairuz, the Malaysian driver, started fourth on the grid. It was a memorable race because of Fairuz's determination to keep on fighting.

In the first ten laps, he was able to move up to third place after a mistake by Great Britain. Malaysia's pressure were eased off after the Netherlands got a drive through penalty. But unfortunately, the happy times didn't last long after Malaysia received a stop-go penalty if I'm not mistaken. That led to a drop of nine positions.

Malaysia was in 12th position for quite awhile. With Fairuz's determination, he fought his way through and passed two drivers to get to 10th place. Ireland, Portugal, and U.S.A. finished the top three, while Malaysia finished 10th.

Overall, it may look like a bad result without any context, but it wasn't because Great Britain and Lebanon got into even worse positions after starting 2nd and 3rd on the grid.

Oh, and by the way, I have applied for a part-time job in Jusco Seremban. I'll be receiving a call from the management ASAP.

Barclays Premier League Preview

This week, the big teams in the BPL are aiming to pick up maximum points in order to keep up with the league leaders Chelsea. They are leading the league right now, but they are tied on points with Liverpool with only the goal difference separate the two.

Arsenal and Man Utd both face tough opponents with Man City and Aston Villa are their hosts this week respectively. Liverpool, boosted by their skipper's wish to end his career at Anfield, are expected to win against Fulham. That will keep pressure on Chelsea which will play against Newcastle at home.
