Next Stop: Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix

next_masgp09_header

Now that the Australian Grand Prix is over, it’s time to focus on the next race which will be held at our home soil, the Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix. This year, SIC promises the race to be better than the previous years. Well, why shouldn’t it be? The Australian Grand Prix proved to us that it was not a two-horse race between Ferrari and McLaren Mercedes anymore. In fact, any teams and drivers can end up on the podium if they try a little harder on each race.

A fairytale beginning to the 2009 Formula 1 Season

sunpic10What a great beginning to the new Formula 1 season! The season opening at Australian Grand Prix have already involved a few dramas and surprises. The Brawn GP fairytale continued on Sunday as Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello finished first and second in the Australian Grand Prix, to give the team a maiden one-two victory in Melbourne.

The only disappointment for me is to see Robert Kubica retired from the race in the final three laps after he crashed with Sebastian Vettel at a corner. He was third at the time, and would have been second if he didn’t make the unnecessary mistake. Hopefully that mistake will conjure up his spirit to come stronger in the Malaysian Grand Prix.

A tiresome day

Today was probably one of the busiest day for the whole Semester. I didn’t even sleep the whole day because I was working on my team’s music video which is due on Monday. If that was not torture on myself, then I don’t know what is. At least I am done with my part, though. We just need to render and burn the video into a disc.

I’m not sure how good is our video going to be when compare it with the other teams, but I do hope that you enjoy the video once it’s uploaded on the Internet. As for now, here’s a teaser we made for the music video. The song is called ‘The Cheyenne Line’ by The Ataris.

Flipbook and Workstation

manuals_pictures

My Traver flash animation have now reached the manuals (also known as flipbook) stage where I had to draw at least fifty pages of animation. I didn’t actually complete the whole nine scenes which I had planned out, but they were enough to illustrate the storyline.

Now that I have got the manuals and storyboard out of the way, I can concentrate on completing the actual animation which is due next week. I may be able to upload a preview of the flash animation later this week, so check this space.

Oh, by the way, these photos are of my workstation a.k.a. my room:

This is where I usually do my drawings and assignments

That’s all for now!

Yet another fantabulous weekend!

sunburst_gallery

Who would have thought that I would have two fantastic weekends in a row? This weekend was a match for last week’s weekend where Liverpool thrashed Man Utd at Old Trafford! This time, me and my UniKL mates had a blast at Sunburst KL 09, the annual concert which I mentioned earlier this month.

Photo067

To be honest with you, my spirit was a wee bit dampen a day before the concert, but after I heard about the extra tickets my father got for me, I got excited all over again! I quickly invite 6 of my mates along with me to the concert on Saturday, and all of them were totally excited! Just so you know, it was our first time going to Sunburst.

l_0ea8fdbe753148ffb2c5b581b50ddf84

I reached at Gate 2 at 2:00pm, but I had to wait for two hours for the others to reach there. Once we have all gathered at Gate 2, we went through the Gate which had to go through at least five checkpoints before we reached the huge field waited upon us.

Fortunately for us, we were just in time for Bunkface performance at the Loud & Clear stage (Hujan just finished performing at Livesounds stage beforehand). At first, we were just neutral to the whole thing, but once a group of spectators started to dance, we joined in.

l_712fa810844440199a92510d0d20a61a

The same goes for the other performances such as Meet Uncle Hussain, Russian Winters, and Gerhana Ska Cinta (among the bands which we had time to watch). Every single one of us were energetic, especially when Gerhana Ska Cinta performed on the Sun stage. The reggae music made the crowd even more ecstatic. It was like clubbing in the daylight I tell you!

Anyway, we only managed to enjoy 4 (4.3 if you count the last song from Hujan) performances because we were tired. I thought we could make it for the midnight show, but a big headache forced me to cancel the plan. But overall, it was a fantastic outing at Sunburst for a first timer like me! Looking for to next year’s.

Photo079

Later that night, we went to Danau Kota for dinner at Nasi Lemak Antarabangsa. It was the first time we had dinner, and probably the last too. A plain nasi lemak (with kacang, ikan bilis, and sambal) alone costs RM2.95! Added all together, it costed about RM12 per person. I swear to God, I thought that I had become a millionaire overnight after a day out at Sunburst and eating at a luxurious restaurant!

Liverpool is only one point behind Man Utd

Just when I thought the day could not get any better, it just did! After the shock defeats for Man Utd and Chelsea by Fulham and Tottenham respectively, Liverpool took the advantage by putting five goals past the off-form Aston Villa.

GerrardG0322

For scoring five goals, Liverpool now have the most superior goal difference compared to other top-flight teams with +33. I just hope that this continues, and I can see that this is probably going to be one of the tightest title rest in the history of Premier League. Hopefully the glory goes to the Reds from the Merseyside!

What a fantastic weekend!

Fabio-Aurelio-Manchester-United-Liverpool-Pre_2003577

What a fantastic day it was for the Reds around the World! Liverpool triumphed at Old Trafford by 4 goals to 1! That was the heaviest defeat the Red Devils ever recorded at their own turf since 1992 when QPR defeated them by the same scoreline.

It may sound like an easy game, but the Reds had to come from behind to record their second biggest away victory this season (first was 1 – 5 against Newcastle Utd back in December last year). Just when you thought all went well for United after Ronaldo converted the penalty on the 23rd minute, Torres equalized five minutes later with cool finish past Van Der Sar after a rare mistake by Vidic.

Steven-Gerrard-Edwin-Van-der-Sar-Manchester-U_2003360

Gerrard, who was brought down by Patrice Evra inside the penalty box, put the Reds ahead before the interval after converting the penalty. It was not an easy day at the office for Ferdinand and Vidic after Torres had been toying with them on several occasions. It got worse for United on the 75th minutes.

Vidic brought down Gerrard after he was through for goal, and the referee did not hesitate to show him the red card. With one-man down, Liverpool took the advantage with a fantastic free kick from Fabio Aurelio. Even with 10-men would not have stopped the shot. Andrea Dossena added the icing on the cake at the death after he chipped shot a long ball from Pepe Reina.

Wayne-Rooney-Manchester-United-Liverpool-Prem_2003621

Overall, it was a perfect day at the office for the team and fans alike. I know that Man Utd are still first with four points and a game in hand, but you don’t have to shove that at us, ‘cause it’s boring! The fact that Liverpool thrashed Man Utd at their OWN turf was such a remarkable feat! The last time the Reds did similar thing was back in 1936! None of us of the current generation was even born yet. Quintuple? Fuck off!

A wet experience for the Reds at BRJ Desa Setapak

I watched the game at BRJ Desa Setapak last night as planned. It may have been raining when we got there, but it didn’t dampen our spirit to watch the big match. About 12 of my mates came along, and we definitely had a great time (except for the Man Utd mates of course)!

Photo013

At first, it was only drizzling, but it got worse right after the second-half started. We didn’t go home. Instead, we went inside a shop-lot for shelter, and watch the match while standing. The fans went nuts when the Reds scored, especially when Aurelio scored the third. I could see the humiliation in the Man Utd fans’ faces in the dark. It’s been too long since I got to rub it at their faces, and I could do it with pride last night.

Photo016

After the game, we went to Tasik Titiwangsa for a crazy night of football, volleyball, and basketball game among ourselves. It was such a crazy night because we just laughed all the way! It would have been better if I brought my camcoder with me and recorded the match, though. It was such a brilliant outing for the fans at BRJ.

The English dominance continue

Fernando-Torres-Liverpool-Real-Madrid-Champio_1984356

It’s been known for awhile now that the English clubs are dominating in Europe for the past five seasons. If you haven’t noticed, for the past five seasons, English clubs had been involved in the semis and finals. That shows you just how dominant they are right now. There’s no difference with the midweek Champions League knockout games which saw all four English clubs defeated their opponents almost at ease (except for Arsenal).

The highlight of the week would have been Liverpool’s 4 – 0 thumping over Real Madrid, the nine-time champions. The Spanish champions recorded their biggest ever Champions League defeat, and that’s a feat which all Red would be proud of. That includes me of course. Bayern Munich also recorded a fine 12 – 1 aggregate over Sporting Lisbon. It makes me laugh and disbelieve every time I look at that scoreline. They are certainly a team to beat this year, along with Barcelona after defeating Lyon 5 – 2 (6 – 3 on aggregate) at the Nou Camp.

Didier-Drogba-Juventus-Chelsea-Champions-Leag_1984790

Anyway, now that the Champions League is out of the way, I’ll be looking forward to the biggest game this season which is between Manchester United and Liverpool. Two old rivals lock head-to-head for the second time this season. A win for either side will certainly shape their title fate for the rest of the season. I have a feeling that Liverpool will triumph this time. But I won’t get carried away ‘cause I’ve been disappointed before. I’ll be watching the game at BRJ Desa Setapak, Wangsa Maju this Saturday. If you’re anywhere there, come join me and my mates for the 8:40pm kick-off.

Sunburst KL09

I’ll be attending the so called ‘Best Music Festival’ in Bukit Kiara Equestrian Club on the 21st March since I got two free tickets from Xpax. I didn’t attend it last year, so this will be the first time I go to the concert, and I have high expectations for it.

It’s been said that there will be quite a few famous International artists that will entertain the audience that day. I heard rumors that Coldplay will be in town as well. I hope it’s true. If you’re going to the event as well, let me know. ‘Cause I’d love to have a good time with you guys as well.

Watchmen – Not for the faint of heart

watchmen002

Typical superhero movies these days are about heroes vs. villains. But that’s not the case for Watchmen. In a grave and alternate 1985, the glory days of superheroes were brought to an end by the government, but after one of the masked veterans is brutally assassinated, a research on the killer is initiated. The heroes banded together to prevent their own destruction, but only to discover a deeper and diabolical plot as the story goes on.WATCHMEN

You might as well say that this is an “anti-hero” movie once the story unveils itself in a truly magnificent setting of an alternate 1985. Watchmen is a massive tome that has characters that have layers, multi narrative threads and plots, and subplots, and side plots. You’ll probably end up pulling your hair for its deep and immersive plots, ‘cause it isn’t just about a plot. That said, the climax of the movie will probably make you feel either cheated or amazed. But I will let you judge how you feel once you watch it yourself.

The characters are very memorable except for probably Adrian Veidt (for its less screen time), and Night Owl II and Silk Spectre II (for not doing a very good job at acting, and maybe too much of the lovey-dovey). That said, Jackie Earle Haley's portrayal of Rorschach is quite chilling, both as a disembodied voiceover as well as the character in and out of the constantly pattern-changing mask.Watchmen

I have never read the graphic novel, and I had no idea what to expect once I got into the theater. But after watching the movie, I have decided to pick up the graphic novel at Borders as soon as possible. I thought the Dark Knight was the darkest superhero movie, but Watchmen had certainly pushed it to the next level. Like I said in the title, this movie isn’t for the faint of heart. If you want an action superhero movie, then this is not the movie for you. But it wouldn’t hurt you if you go watch it, though.

The Good: Deep and immersive storyline, great alternate 1985 setting and characters.

The Bad: The ending could have been better.

My rating: 4/5

Language Day - Before the Show

I was supposed to post this video right after our performance video, but the assignments made me totally forgot about it! I guess it's better to post it late than never.

Anyway, this is behind the scene right before we get on stage. The three performers interviewed are The Unsung Hero (played by Fuad), The Hero (played by Hirzi), and The Evil Queen (played by Syarilla).
